Description: The Castagra Roofing Scholarship Program was developed to support individuals pursuing a career in roofing (or a similar field), who are passionate about innovation and/or sustainability. Similar fields must be applicable to the building industry (construction, waterproofing, etc.). We understand that college is not for everyone. Platt Family Scholarship Essay Contest:

Description: The Platt Family Scholarship Essay Contest is designed for students who are undergraduate students in an accredited American college or university during the Spring 2024 semester (or equivalent semester that takes place and concludes between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2024). The deadline is designed to give these students time to finish their essays, if need be, after final exams. Applicants do not have to be an American citizen, but they need to be attending an American college or university during the eligibility period. The contest is not open to high school students. Entries must contain a minimum of 1,500 and a maximum of 5,000 words. Applicants must include the name of their college or university with their entry and all contact information (regular and email address) must be put on the essay proper. To be fair to all applicants, the use of any artificial intelligence writing software, including but not limited to ChatGPT, Copilot, or Gemini, is strictly forbidden and will result in the essay being rejected. All essays that are forwarded to the judges will be scanned with AI-detecting software, and those essays that indicate the use of AI will be rejected at the sole discretion of The Lincoln Forum. Prizewinners will be required to attest in writing that they did not utilize AI in the creation of their winning essays before they will receive their award. Description: The Charmaine Letourneau Scholarship is awarded each year to a deaf or hard of hearing person who will attend an academic or training program at a qualified institution. Priority is given to individuals who demonstrate involvement in deaf and hard of hearing organizations, school or community leadership, commitment to and diligence in studies, and likelihood the program of study will lead to employment or further educational opportunities. Applicants may be pursuing an academic or training program at a qualified post-secondary or vocational school in Alberta. Alternatively the educational institution could be outside Alberta if it specializes in programming for deaf or hard of hearing students. Applicants must also have demonstrated knowledge (whether basic or fluent) of sign language. Two reference letters from people who have known the applicant for at least six months, and be able to comment on how the applicant meets the criteria, must be submitted. Description: The Law Enforcement Family Member Scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled at either an accredited law school or an accredited university. Description: The Apprentice Ecologist Initiative has engaged tens of thousands of young volunteers from around the world in environmental cleanup and conservation projects since 1999. The goals of the Initiative are to elevate youth into leadership roles by engaging them in environmental cleanup and conservation projects; empower young people to rebuild the environmental and social well-being of our communities; and improve local living conditions for both citizens and wildlife through education, activism, and action. The scholarship will be awarded annually to the authors of the top-ranked Apprentice Ecologist essays. Applicants must enroll in or attend an accredited post-secondary (undergraduate at college or university) educational institution. Applicants should embody the spirit of the Apprentice Ecologist Initiative by demonstrating initiative, leadership, and environmental stewardship in their project. Mitch Daniels Early Graduation Scholarship:

Description: The Mitch Daniels Early Graduation Scholarship will be awarded to students who graduate from a publicly supported high school at least one year early. The scholarship may be used toward tuition and fees and any remaining funds shall be remitted to the student. This scholarship may not be used for remedial course work. Applicants must have had legal settlement in Indiana for at least the last two semesters prior to graduating from high school. Applicants must have attended a publicly supported high school on a full-time equivalency basis for at least the last two semesters before they graduated. They must have been awarded a minimum of a Core 40 high school diploma by the end of grade 11, including any summer course work completed by July 1 of the year of graduation. They must not have been enrolled in a publicly supported high school for any part of a fourth year (grade 12). The Indiana Department of Education uses data reported by the student’s high school to verify their eligibility for the scholarship. The deadline for the applicant’s high school to report this data to the Indiana Department of Education is October 30, 2024. Description: At Florida Rentals we know how hard you work all semester. Studying, stressing, and late night writing can take their toll. We think you deserve a vacation, or at least to dream about one. Unfortunately, dream vacations and college tuition can be expensive. To help with these costs, we are awarding a student a scholarship to put towards his or her education. Eligible students should submit a 1,000 word essay. Description: The Caroline M. Hewins Scholarship Fund was established in 1926 as a tribute to one of the great pioneers in American Librarianship in special recognition of her creative work for children throughout the country. The scholarship is open to those who plan to specialize in library work with children: who have received, or are about to receive a four year undergraduate degree; and who have applied for admission to a library school or are already attending a library school accredited by the American Library Association. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to pursue a career in public library service. A transcript of undergraduate college work through senior year, proof of acceptance (either acceptance letter or transcripts) into an ALA accredited library school, and two letters of recommendation from someone who can attest to the applicant’s interest or ability in the library field and/or working with youth are required. American Board of Funeral Service Education National Scholarship Program:

Description: The National Scholarship Program of the American Board of Funeral Service Education was established to provide financial awards to students enrolled in funeral service or mortuary science programs to assist them in obtaining their professional education. Selection of scholarship recipients is competitive. To be considered for an award, a student must have completed at least one semester (or quarter) of study in a program in funeral service or mortuary science education accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Students in coordinated programs are only eligible for an award during the period of attendance at the American Board accredited institution. Applicants must have at least one term or semester remaining in their program which will commence after the award date in order to be considered for a full award. Students with less than a full term of study remaining will be considered for partial awards. Applicants must also be a citizen of the United States, U.S. Permanent Resident, International Student (F1-Visa holder), or a student in the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Applicants must provide detailed information regarding their work and community service history beginning during their high school years to the present. Tennessee HOPE Scholarship:

Amount: $4,500

Description: The HOPE Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen who are enrolled at an eligible postsecondary institution within 16 months after graduating from an eligible high school in Tennessee. Only courses leading to a student’s eligible program of study (associate or baccalaureate degree program) can be awarded under the HOPE Scholarship program. Entering freshmen must achieve a minimum 21 ACT or a minimum of 1060 SAT, exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests (concordant equivalent score) or overall minimum 3.0 GPA. Home School graduates must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests. Home school GPAs are not considered. If a minimum 21 ACT is not achieved, students may qualify for HOPE by completing at least two dual enrollment classes at an eligible postsecondary institution while enrolled in the home school program totaling at least six semester hours and achieving a minimum 3.0 college GPA in each of the two dual enrollment courses and achieve a minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA in all dual enrollment courses attempted. GED recipients must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests and qualifying GED score of 170. HiSet recipients must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests and qualifying HiSet score of 15. South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship:

Description: The South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship will be awarded to South Dakota’s most academically accomplished high school graduates for them to be able to receive an affordable education at any university, college, or technical school. The scholarship provides over four years of scholarship money to a qualifying student. There are two ways for students to be considered, which are available on the scholarship’s website. It might be determined by their GPA and ACT or SAT scores. Complete application packages are due to institutional representatives by no later than September 1st for those seeking initial enrollment during the Fall term, and no later than January 15th for those seeking initial enrollment during the Spring term. However, it is recommended that the initial scholarship application and transcript be submitted by June 1st when establishing eligibility for the Fall term and November 1st for the Spring term so that the financial aid office can begin to work with eligible students to package a scholarship award in a more timely manner. Tennessee HOPE Scholarship for Nontraditional Students:

Description: The HOPE Scholarship for nontraditional age students is for independent students as determined by the FAFSA application and who have enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program at an eligible four-year postsecondary institution. Students may receive up to $2,250 per full-time enrollment semester, including summers, as a freshman and sophomore and up to $2,850 per full-time enrollment semester, including summers, as a junior and senior. Only courses within the student’s program of study can be awarded under the scholarship. This commitment to excellence and the scholarship of teaching and learning may be demonstrated in any dental, allied dental or advanced dental instructional setting, including classroom or laboratory instruction, clinical teaching or preceptorships, research and instructional mentoring, continuing education, community-based instructional settings or electronically mediated teaching and learning experiences. The nominee must demonstrate excellence in teaching students, hold a full-time faculty appointment at an ADEA member institution, and be an ADEA individual member. Nominees are to be identified and recognized initially within individual institutions or programs of dental, allied dental or advanced dental education. Nominations are to be forwarded by the dean or program director. A composite letter of nomination to be prepared by the dean, academic dean or program director with input from the ADEA Council of Faculties institutional representative, if available, a peer professional and a student or alumni representative must be submitted. The letter should detail the nominee’s contribution to the scholarship of teaching and learning and describe the reasons the nominee should receive the award. This letter must identify the nominee’s past recognition and summarize the most recent course evaluations. It is optional but a listing of key publications and presentations may also be submitted. ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarships for Predoctoral Dental Students Pursuing Academic Careers:

Description: The ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarships for Predoctoral Dental Students Pursuing Academic Careers will support dental students who demonstrate firm commitments to becoming dental educators. Description: The ADEA/Sigma Phi Alpha Linda DeVore Scholarship recognizes the memory and the 30-year dental education career of Professor Linda Rubinstein DeVore. A scholarship is awarded to an individual pursuing allied dental education study at the baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral degree levels. An applicant must be enrolled in a course of study in dental hygiene, education, or public health; demonstrate a commitment to leadership in education or health care; be in good academic standing in his or her program of study; and be an ADEA individual member. A letter of nomination from a faculty member addressing the candidate’s leadership qualities and a letter of support from the applicant’s dean, dental hygiene director, or equivalent in an academic setting must be submitted. Description: The NSHSS Community College or Trade School Scholarship will be awarded to students with a high school graduation year of 2024 or earlier who are currently enrolled in or planning to attend community college or trade school. NSHSS Creative Writing Scholarship:

Description: The NSHSS Creative Writing Scholarship will be awarded to NSHSS members who are high school students graduating in 2024, 2025, 2026, or 2027. Three $2,000 awards will be given for the Fiction category, and three $2,000 awards will be given for the Poetry category. For Poetry: Students may submit their original poetry in any style, from formal verse, to free verse to experimental. The poem should be formatted as you wish it to appear in publication. For Fiction: Students may submit a piece of short fiction, which must be no more than 5,000 words and should not be single-spaced. The entry may be any genre of the student’s choice, including graphic novel or story. Entries will be judged on creativity, technique, expression, and originality. All work must be the student’s original work. NSHSS has a no-tolerance policy for plagiarism. Any applicant whose winning work is determined to be plagiarized in whole or in part will forfeit any awards. An educator recommendation letter must be submitted. NSHSS Film and Video Production Scholarship:

Description: The NSHSS Film and Video Production Scholarship will be awarded to rising high school students graduating in 2025, 2026, or 2027 and recently graduated 2024 seniors. Applicants must create and submit an artistic representation of a day in their life through film. How is your day unique, exciting, making an impact? Be creative, animation is allowed. Films should be no more than 5 minutes long, and submissions can be made in the following categories: scripted film narrative, animation, documentary, or short film. Entries will be judged on the following criteria: Expression of a clear theme; Quality of the story line and script (if applicable); Creativity and/or content originality; Production quality; and Editing. NSHSS has a no-tolerance policy for plagiarism. Any applicant whose winning work is determined to be plagiarized in whole or in part will forfeit any awards. NSHSS Performing Arts: Dance Scholarship:

Description: The NSHSS Performing Arts: Dance Scholarship Award will be awarded to rising high school students graduating in 2025, 2026, or 2027; or recently graduated 2024 seniors with a passion for dance. NSHSS has created this scholarship dedicated to those interested in pursuing their studies in the performing arts. A portion of the application requires the applicant to submit a short video of their performance. The top three performers will be awarded a scholarship to assist in continuing their art and sharing it with the world. An educator recommendation letter is required. NSHSS Visual Arts Scholarship:

Description: The NSHSS Visual Arts Scholarship will be awarded to rising NSHSS high school members graduating in 2025, 2026, or 2027; or recently graduated 2024 seniors. Three $2,000 awards will be given for photography; and three $2,000 awards will be given for painting, drawing, mixed media, or digital art. Examples of artwork for this category include painting, drawing, ceramics, glass, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, and weaving. Applicants must submit the title and description of their submission and an educator recommendation. It is optional but students may also submit pictures, videos, or media showing their leadership in action. All work must be the student’s original work. Students are welcome to apply for both categories, but only one piece of artwork should be chosen for each category. Students are only eligible to win one NSHSS Scholarship per academic year.
