Description: The Platt Family Scholarship Essay Contest is designed for students who are undergraduate students in an accredited American college or university during the Spring 2024 semester (or equivalent semester that takes place and concludes between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2024). The deadline is designed to give these students time to finish their essays, if need be, after final exams. Applicants do not have to be an American citizen, but they need to be attending an American college or university during the eligibility period. The contest is not open to high school students. Entries must contain a minimum of 1,500 and a maximum of 5,000 words. Applicants must include the name of their college or university with their entry and all contact information (regular and email address) must be put on the essay proper. Description: The Apprentice Ecologist Initiative has engaged tens of thousands of young volunteers from around the world in environmental cleanup and conservation projects since 1999. The goals of the Initiative are to elevate youth into leadership roles by engaging them in environmental cleanup and conservation projects; empower young people to rebuild the environmental and social well-being of our communities; and improve local living conditions for both citizens and wildlife through education, activism, and action. The scholarship will be awarded annually to the authors of the top-ranked Apprentice Ecologist essays. Description: The Mitch Daniels Early Graduation Scholarship will be awarded to students who graduate from a publicly supported high school at least one year early. The scholarship may be used toward tuition and fees and any remaining funds shall be remitted to the student. This scholarship may not be used for remedial course work. Applicants must have had legal settlement in Indiana for at least the last two semesters prior to graduating from high school. Applicants must have attended a publicly supported high school on a full-time equivalency basis for at least the last two semesters before they graduated. They must have been awarded a minimum of a Core 40 high school diploma by the end of grade 11, including any summer course work completed by July 1 of the year of graduation. They must not have been enrolled in a publicly supported high school for any part of a fourth year (grade 12). The Indiana Department of Education uses data reported by the student’s high school to verify their eligibility for the scholarship. The deadline for the applicant’s high school to report this data to the Indiana Department of Education is October 30, 2024. Hewins Scholarship Fund was established in 1926 as a tribute to one of the great pioneers in American Librarianship in special recognition of her creative work for children throughout the country. The scholarship is open to those who plan to specialize in library work with children: who have received, or are about to receive a four year undergraduate degree; and who have applied for admission to a library school or are already attending a library school accredited by the American Library Association. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to pursue a career in public library service. American Board of Funeral Service Education National Scholarship Program:

Description: The National Scholarship Program of the American Board of Funeral Service Education was established to provide financial awards to students enrolled in funeral service or mortuary science programs to assist them in obtaining their professional education. Selection of scholarship recipients is competitive. To be considered for an award, a student must have completed at least one semester (or quarter) of study in a program in funeral service or mortuary science education accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Students in coordinated programs are only eligible for an award during the period of attendance at the American Board accredited institution. Applicants must have at least one term or semester remaining in their program which will commence after the award date in order to be considered for a full award. Students with less than a full term of study remaining will be considered for partial awards. Applicants must also be a citizen of the United States, U.S. Permanent Resident, International Student (F1-Visa holder), or a student in the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Description: The HOPE Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen who are enrolled at an eligible postsecondary institution within 16 months after graduating from an eligible high school in Tennessee. Only courses leading to a student’s eligible program of study (associate or baccalaureate degree program) can be awarded under the HOPE Scholarship program. Entering freshmen must achieve a minimum 21 ACT or a minimum of 1060 SAT, exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests (concordant equivalent score) or overall minimum 3.0 GPA. Home School graduates must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests. Home school GPAs are not considered. If a minimum 21 ACT is not achieved, students may qualify for HOPE by completing at least two dual enrollment classes at an eligible postsecondary institution while enrolled in the home school program totaling at least six semester hours and achieving a minimum 3.0 college GPA in each of the two dual enrollment courses and achieve a minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA in all dual enrollment courses attempted. GED recipients must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests and qualifying GED score of 170. HiSet recipients must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests and qualifying HiSet score of 15. Description: The South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship will be awarded to South Dakota’s most academically accomplished high school graduates for them to be able to receive an affordable education at any university, college, or technical school. The scholarship provides over four years of scholarship money to a qualifying student. There are two ways for students to be considered, which are available on the scholarship’s website. It might be determined by their GPA and ACT or SAT scores. Complete application packages are due to institutional representatives by no later than September 1st for those seeking initial enrollment during the Fall term, and no later than January 15th for those seeking initial enrollment during the Spring term. However, it is recommended that the initial scholarship application and transcript be submitted by June 1st when establishing eligibility for the Fall term and November 1st for the Spring term so that the financial aid office can begin to work with eligible students to package a scholarship award in a more timely manner.
