The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarship:
Amount: $2,000 – $10,000
Closing Date: March 1, 2025
Description: The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year nomination is open to either of the following: (A) a registered active member of a Boy Scouts of America unit that is chartered to an American Legion post, American Legion Auxiliary unit or Sons of The American Legion squadron; or (B) a registered active member of any chartered Boy Scouts of America unit and have a parent or grandparent possessing up-to-date membership in The American Legion or Sons of The American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary. Applicants must have received the Eagle Scout Award; received a Scouts BSA or Venturer Religious Emblem; and have demonstrated practical citizenship in church, school, Scouting and community. They must be enrolled in high school at the time of selection. The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarship awards will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each. The scholarship may be used to attend a school selected by the student provided it is state accredited, above the high school level, and within the continental limits of the United States, except in the case where the student may be from a possession of the United States, in which case the student can select a school in that possession or in the continental United States. The nomination window is from November 1st to March 1st, annually. Nomination packets must be received by each applicant’s respective American Legion state department headquarters. Then each respective American Legion State Department Selection Committee will determine the Eagle Scout judged to be the best in their department (state). Then the department will send that packet, along with a list of the members serving on that Selection Committee, to The American Legion National Headquarters no later than April 1st. Felicia Brewer Opportunity Scholarship:

Description: The purpose of the Felicia Brewer Opportunity Scholarship is to create a life-transforming opportunity for immigrant or first generation students who have overcome significant adversity, giving them the opportunity to pursue their dreams and improve their lives through education or training. This scholarship is restricted to current students or alumni of a Chapel Hill-Carrboro City High School. They must plan to or are currently pursuing 2- or 4-year undergraduate degrees. This scholarship is restricted to immigrants, refugees, or first-generation US citizens. This scholarship will be awarded for 4 years. Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members:

Description: Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members is awarded to candidates who have been Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary, have held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary for the past three consecutive years, and must be a paid member for the current membership year. Applicant must continue their membership in the American Legion Auxiliary during the scholarship period. This is a scholarship to attend an accredited institution of higher education. Applicants must be of good character and have grades that meet entrance requirements at the institution of their choice. Two letters of recommendation are required.
Carolyn Lemmond Winchester Scholarship:

Description: The family of Carolyn Lemmond Winchester wishes to honor her commitment to excellence and education by providing scholarship opportunities to students with financial need. The Scholarship will provide financial awards for graduating seniors from Brevard or Rosman High Schools in Transylvania County, North Carolina. Description: The Lawrence Strader Boy Scouts of America Scholarship aims to provide a four-year scholarship assistance to low-income members of Boy Scouts of America, Great Smoky Mountain Council. Children of Warriors National Presidents’ Scholarship:

Description: Children of Warriors National Presidents’ Scholarship aims to support the children of our warriors. Candidates for this award shall be direct descendants of veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion: April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918; and any time after December 7, 1941. Membership in The American Legion Family is not required for this scholarship. Applicants must complete 50 hours of volunteer service within the community during their high school years. Copy of veteran’s discharge papers is required and two letters of recommendation is needed. Description: The Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation Scholarships will be awarded for postsecondary education. The applicant must be entering a postsecondary education program for the first time after completing their secondary education program. Graduating high school seniors and graduate high school students may apply. Proof of enrollment status is required prior to scholarship disbursement. At the time the scholarship is granted, the applicant must be enrolled to attend: The University of Wyoming, a Wyoming junior college, a Wyoming trade school, or an accredited virtual college or university as long as the student is a Wyoming resident and lives in Wyoming. A letter of recommendation from a high school art instructor is required. Applicants may submit their Traditional Art Portfolio, which includes three different examples of original 2D artwork in three different mediums (for example: Oils, Acrylic, Watercolor, Photography, etc.). Description: The Lady Denise Sanders Robertson Scholarship will be awarded to graduating seniors or non-traditional students who will major in either Theology, Liberal Arts, Fine Arts, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, or Health Sciences and will attend any in the United States or Smith County, Texas School. A (1) graduating African-American senior from any public, private or home school located in Smith County, Texas; (2) a non-traditional student residing in Smith County, Texas at the time of application; or (3) a non-traditional student residing outside of Smith County at the time of application, who plans to attend a college or university located in Smith County, Texas are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Description: Every year, SEMA helps students pay for their college tuition. To be eligible for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund, applicants must be either a high school senior or 18 years of age at the time of submission. Applicants must be incoming freshmen or have continued enrollment in college, university or post-secondary career and technology school in the United States or Canada. Description: The Livingston Family – H.J. King Memorial Scholarship is given in honor of former Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation Presidents, as well as the parents of former WyFB President, Perry Livingston. Applicants may either be one of the following: (A) A Wyoming high school graduate; (B) A Spring 2024 Wyoming high school graduating senior; or (C) A Wyoming resident who, at the time of application submission, has successfully completed or will successfully complete their final semester of academic curriculum with a home school, charter school, virtual school, or GED program. The applicant must be entering a postsecondary education program for the first time after completing their secondary education program. Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund:
Amount: $5,000 – $20,000

Description: The Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund scholarship program was established to support California high school students of Filipino heritage who demonstrate excellence in math and science to pursue rewarding engineering and science careers where Filipino Americans are underrepresented. The scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years. Applicants must be at least 50 percent Filipino. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, at least one of which is from a current teacher. Fifteen to twenty finalists will be chosen. Finalists must be available for a 30-minute interview on Zoom between late March to mid-April 2024. The Vermont American Legion – Eagle Scout of the Year:

Description: The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarship awards will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each. The scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive their scholarship immediately upon graduation from high school (public, parochial, military, private, or home school) and must utilize the total award within four (4) years of their graduation date, excluding active military duty or religious mission. Additionally, The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will join the Youth Champion delegation and participate in the Legion’s Annual National Convention. Applicants must be an Eagle Scout. Reach applicants can submit applications for the Business or Production/Studio Operations tracks. Description: The annual Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference for high school juniors returns to the nation’s capital. After three years of online meetings, the Freedom Forum is pleased to welcome students again to in-person activities including remarks from top journalists and visits to the U.S. Capitol and other landmarks in Washington, D.C. Students selected for the program receive an all-expenses-paid trip and a scholarship to the college of their choice. Two letters of recommendation are required. Description: The Future Teachers of America Scholarship is available to a high school senior planning to major in education, attending a high school which has an FTA Chapter affiliated with TEA, and planning to enroll in a college or university. Primary consideration for recipient selection shall be based upon academic excellence, economic need, and a demonstrated interest in becoming a teacher. Description: The American Legion provides for a national scholarship to be awarded to the Eagle Scout who is selected The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year. The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarship awards will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each. The nominee must be either a registered active member of a Boy Scouts of America unit that is chartered to an American Legion post, American Legion Auxiliary unit, or Sons of The American Legion squadron; or be e a registered active member of any chartered Boy Scouts of America unit and have a parent or grandparent possessing up-to-date membership in The American Legion or Sons of The American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary, and in the case of a recently deceased member, their membership for the year immediately prior to the current year may be used. A certification of acceptance into a non-engineering, aviation-related postsecondary education program is required. American Legion Auxiliary Department of Minnesota Scholarships:

Description: Department scholarships are awarded to deserving sons or daughters, grandsons or granddaughters of a veteran who need financial assistance to avail themselves of higher education at the post-secondary level. These scholarships are to be applied only toward the expenses of tuition, books or similar fees, at an accredited institution of higher learning. Satisfactory progress must be made with grades reported to the Department of Minnesota. To be eligible to apply for these scholarships, the veteran must have served in the federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941 and have been honorably discharged or is still serving. Applicants must be either a resident of the State of Minnesota or a member of the American Legion Auxiliary (includes Junior membership), The American Legion, or Sons of The American Legion, Department of Minnesota. Description: The Sons and Daughters Scholarship is available to a TEA member’s child who is a high school senior, or who is an undergraduate or graduate student preparing to become a teacher and who is enrolled in a college or university. Description: Established in December of 2001, the North Carolina American Indian Fund is a collaborative effort of North Carolina American Indian tribes and organizations. It was established in response to an understanding that resources for meeting the human and economic needs are limited, including scholarship assistance, funding for community based health, human services, education programs, and tribal organization infrastructure. Recognizing that gaps in funding for education needs put Indian communities at risk in many areas, education was selected as the first priority to address these critical gaps. The North Carolina American Indian Fund Scholarship program will assist American Indian students in obtaining higher education by providing scholarships to students who demonstrate a commitment to the American Indian community, extracurricular and volunteer involvement, financial need, and academic success. Description: CDM Smith has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Applicants to the CDM Constructors Inc. Conant Memorial Farm Credit East Scholarship is for a student who must be a current member of 4-H who is currently active in 4-H activities and a graduating senior or an individual who has graduated from high school but has delayed going to college for no more than one year.
