American Legion Auxiliary Department of Michigan Scholarship for Non-Traditional Student:
Amount: $500 – $1,000
Closing Date: March 10, 2025
Description: The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Michigan Scholarship for Non-Traditional Student will be awarded to those who must be a descendent of a veteran. Applicant must meet one of the following: (A) A non-traditional student returning to the classroom after some period of time in which her/his education was interrupted. A student will only be considered if this is the first time “returning” after an interruption; (B) A student over the age of twenty-two attending college for the first time pursuing a degree; or (C) A student over the age of twenty-two attending a vocational or trade school. Applications must be received by the Sponsoring Unit by March 10, 2024; and must be received by the Department Office by March 15, 2024. Connex Foundation Scholarship:
Amount: $5,000

Description: The purpose of the Connex Foundation Scholarship is to assist individuals who are exploring the study of skilled trades or multi-site facility management with the end goal of advancing their career in this field. The scholarship serves to promote the multi-site facilities industry by attracting high school, college-level, career transitioning, adult re-entry, and veteran students into the field of study and encouraging their pursuit with financial support. The Connex Foundation will award scholarships to individuals pursuing a career in the skilled trades (example: electrical, plumbing, welding, HVAC, carpentry), construction and/or facility management industry. Applicants must have a history of active involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, or work experience. Applicants must create a submission video answering 6 of the following 10 questions: (1) Why do you believe you deserve this scholarship? (2) How will this scholarship impact your life? (3) Who is your role model and why? (4) Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? (5) What subject is your favorite in school and why? (6) What is a meaningful experience or class you’ve had in school and why? (7) What role do you believe technology will play in advancing the retail industry? (8) What has driven you to follow this education path? (9) Provide an example of a time you overcame adversity. (10) Any additional thoughts or comments concerning the facilities management/trade industry you would like to share? The answers should highlight the applicant’s unique experiences, strengths, potential, goals, and aspirations. Walter L. Mitchell Memorial Awards:
Amount: $1,500

Description: Walter L. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Awards is open to high school seniors who will graduate in January or June of the current school year and will enroll in a higher education facility beginning the next school year. To be eligible, the applicant must be a child, stepchild or legally adopted child of a member of the International Chemical Workers Union Council with continuous membership for at least a year prior to March 10, 2023.
Oregon Community Leadership Scholarship:
Amount: $5,000 – $20,000

Description: The Oregon Community Leadership Scholarship is a collegiate scholarship program eligible for current Oregon high school seniors who are emerging leaders, and plan to attend an Oregon trade school, college or university. The program is intended to facilitate the growth of promising leaders in the state of Oregon by developing the skills needed to flourish their local communities. Information about your extracurricular activities/service and internships/jobs must be submitted. Two letters of reference are required. Sister Rita Jeanne Abicht Scholarships:
Amount: $1,000 – $3,000

Description: The Sister Rita Jeanne Abicht Scholarships recognize the top high school journalists in the country. The contest begins at the state level. Winning portfolios from state Journalist of the Year competitions are sent to the national level, with winners announced at the Spring JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention. Applicants are no longer required to have two years of scholastic journalism experience, though most will. Applicants must be a senior in high school or equivalent for international schools. Applicants from outside the United States should submit their entries to JEA’s global engagement director. Three recommendation letters from those who know the applicants best and can speak to the significance of their journalism experience are required. Applicants must contact their JEA state director for instructions on state contest submission. The tools on the scholarship website were designed for use at state and national contests. Applicants should include examples that demonstrate their abilities as an editor or leader, even if they do not hold a formal “leadership position” on staff. Applicants may also demonstrate editing proficiency by “revisiting” and updating work from earlier in their journalistic career and providing a look at how they might handle the piece differently now that they are more experienced. Description: The Dave Nelsen Scholarship will be awarded to students currently attending or planning to attend a technical college or trade school within the next 12 months. This includes technicians currently pursuing licensing or other advanced education. Students must be pursuing their education in the HVAC-R or plumbing field. They must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a program with an oil heat or Bio-Fuel course as part of their overall curriculum. Applicants must include a letter of recommendation from their HVAC or plumbing instructor or mentor. Optional: This is optional but applicants may submit a short personal video to speak of their interest in this scholarship and why they should be considered. OESP Family College Scholarship:

Description: The OESP Family College Scholarship will be awarded to family members of members in good standing of OESP. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a member in good standing of OESP. Carter Roger Williams Scholarship:

Description: This annual scholarship program is intended to inspire students and their parents to think big about what’s possible for their future. Students who appreciate and embody Roger Williams’s values and legacy are encouraged to apply. The scholarship provides educational aid, per student per year, for graduating high school seniors in Rhode Island. Awards are renewable for up to three consecutive years following the first award. American Legion Department of Kansas High School Oratorical Contest:

Description: The purpose of the American Legion Department of Kansas High School Oratorical Contest is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States among high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, rights, and privileges of American citizenship. Students will be awarded scholarships that may be used to attend college or university. All contestants must be bona fide students herein described as any student under the age of 20 years on the date of the national contest who is presently enrolled in a high school or junior high school (public, parochial, military, private or state accredited homeschool) in which the curriculum of said high school is considered to be of high school level, commencing with grade nine and terminating with grade 12. Students must be enrolled in high school or junior high school during the time of participation at any level of The American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest. High school students that graduate early during the school year are eligible to compete if they are not enrolled in a college, university, trade school or other institution of higher learning at the time of the department finals contest. AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarships:

Description: The American Meteorological Society is pleased to announce the AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship program, open to all high school students and designed to encourage study in the atmospheric and related sciences. The Society encourages applications from women, minorities, and disabled students, traditionally underrepresented in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status. Applicants must be entering their freshman year of college in the Fall of 2025 and plan to pursue a degree in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. Marine biology does not meet this requirement. The second-year funding is dependent on successful completion of the first year. Description: The Charm Satree Scholarship was established in order of Charm Satree, a pioneer in her field as a successful women in male-dominated industries related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). To be eligible, applicants must be a current graduating senior or former graduate from a high school in Nebraska who plans to attend any qualified, nonprofit 2- or 4-year college or university. Preference will be given to females with demonstrated leadership and participation in school and/or community activities or work experience. Description: The CPCU-Lawrence “Larry” Frazier Memorial Scholarship ensures that Larry’s memory as an excellent businessman and human being will live on forever. Applicants must be a current graduating senior or a former graduate of a high school in Nebraska; and demonstrate academic success in high school studies and must possess the ability to do post-secondary work in a satisfactory manner. It is preferred that the applicant intends to pursue a career in the field of aviation, insurance, or law. Description: The Jeff Konkoleski Memorial Scholarship was established by his wife, Brenda Konkoleski, and his family in 2020 to honor his life and legacy in education. He left behind a legacy of serving with purpose and passion to his two young children and all those whom he impacted in the community. Description: The Louis C. and Amy E. Nuernberger Memorial Scholarship Foundation was established in 1994 to recall and honor the lives of Louis and Amy Nuernberger. The Nuernberger family established this scholarship to assist worthy students in successfully reaching their potential. Applicants must be a current high school graduating senior or former graduate of Wakefield High School. Preference will be given to current Wakefield HS seniors. Applicants must have demonstrated potential for achievement of their educational goals. Preference will be given to applicants who have worked at the Wakefield Health Care Center. Description: The Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California Scholarship will be awarded to students who must have maintained a minimum 3.50 total weighted GPA for Grades 9-12. Applicants must be a graduating senior of a California high school. Applicants must have participated in at least three extracurricular activities while in high school. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from an individual who will vouch for the applicant’s academic standing, character, personality, and extracurricular activities. Description: The Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award is a scholarship program for high school juniors. The program is designed to attract students who are motivated and community minded. The projects the students propose should demonstrate the values that Herbert Hoover exemplified in his life of public service. After all presentations are given, each student receives a check for $1,500 at the October presentation day. A committee of distinguished Iowans listens to all presentations and chooses three students to receive $10,000 scholarships to be used at an accredited two or four year college or university. Description: The Antenore C. “Butch” Davanzo Scholarship was developed to help college-bound students, who are interested in pursuing a career in treatment or some other aspect of the water environment field, fund their 1st year of post-high school education. Students must be a senior at a Michigan-based high school or home school program. A resume showing full and part-time employment, education history and extra-curricular activities, for at least the past five years is required. One letter of recommendation from the student’s academic advisor, or other appropriate official, attesting to their interests and other aspects of their application must also be submitted. Description: The Margaret C. Stednitz Scholarship was established in 1991. She dedicated her life to music and education and wished to pass on her passion for learning to students who dream of achieving a college degree. Applicants must be a current graduating senior of Lincoln Northeast High School, Lincoln, Nebraska. The applicant must demonstrate scholastic application and achievement and intend to continue their education. This scholarship is not awarded until the recipient completes one full year of college with continued evidence of scholarship application and achievement. Description: The Duncan E. McGregor & Lillian M. McGregor Scholarships were established at the Lincoln Community Foundation to benefit students from six communities in central Nebraska. Applicants must be a current graduating senior or former graduate of Ansley, Arcadia, Gibbon, Ord, Sargent, or Shelton High Schools in Nebraska; demonstrate scholastic application and achievement in high school and/or college studies; and have resided in a community once served and maintained by the Nebraska Central Telephone Company during their high school education. Financial need will only be utilized as a tie-breaker in the selection process. Applicants must provide three references’ email addresses. References from family members are not acceptable.
