O’Brien-Vrba Scholarship Trust Program:

Amount: $2,500

Description: The O’Brien-Vrba Scholarship Trust is intended to assist rural Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan high school graduates who plan to continue their education in college. Applicants must currently live or have resided in an approved rural county during high school. Applicants must be an undergraduate student or graduate-level student, who plans to enroll in a course of study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year. Applicants must be actively involved in school activities and community service and have a family Adjusted Gross Income of $150,000 or less. Applicants of the Catholic Faith, those who attend Catholic institution, and/or who participate in activities through the Newman Center at their college are given additional consideration. Two online letters of recommendation must be submitted; one from a teacher, advisor or clergy writing about the applicant’s performance and character; and one from a community service supervisor addressing the applicant’s service and leadership in the activity. American Heart Association Student Scholarships in Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke:

Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: April 9, 2025
Description: The Student Scholarships in Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke will be awarded to students specifically researching cerebrovascular disease and stroke. Scholarship recipients may also be eligible to receive a $750 travel grant pending verification of their attendance at the International Stroke Conference (ISC) and an accepted, co-authored abstract for the current year’s conference. The preceptor and recipient of a Student Scholarship in Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke are encouraged to submit a co-authored abstract. Eligible applicants include students in medical schools or in master’s or equivalent programs in an accredited school in the United States where research training in cardiovascular disease and stroke is available. MD/PhD and PhDs are ineligible unless the PhD was obtained previously in an area not related to basic sciences. Each applicant and applicant’s preceptor must be members of the AHA at the time of application. The awards will be made to institutions within the United States in which the research training is available to students under qualified supervision. If the student conducts the research at a location other than their home institution, they must have written approval of his/her dean or other responsible individual. A committee of representatives of the American Heart Association scientific councils will select institutions based on the quality of a proposal, supporting supervision and the student’s academic achievement. Cameron Impact Scholarship:

Description: The Bryan Cameron Education Foundation awards four-year, full-tuition, merit-based undergraduate scholarships to exceptional high school students who have demonstrated excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, leadership, and community service. The Cameron Impact Scholar is unique among their high-achieving peers in their desire to make an impact on their communities and in the world at large. Wells Fargo Veterans Scholarship Program:

Amount: $5,000

Description: The Wells Fargo Veterans Scholarship Program provides scholarships to fill unmet financial needs of veterans after military benefits and other grants and scholarships have been packaged by their school. Applicants must have served in the United States military, this includes the Reserves and National Guard. They must be honorably-discharged (no longer drilling or serving) veterans who have received a Certificate of Eligibility from the Department of Veterans Affairs or DD214 or another document of service stating “Honorable Discharged” by the program application deadline date. A spouse or widowed person of disabled veterans meeting the criteria may also apply. Applicants must be high school or GED graduates, current undergraduate or graduate level one students enrolled in undergraduate (first Associates or Bachelor’s) or graduate (first Master’s degree) study at an accredited school for the entire upcoming academic year. Doctorate study is not eligible. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Lester Benz Scholarship:

Description: Quill and Scroll will award the Lester G. Benz Scholarship to an adviser who undertakes a professional development activity over the summer or in the academic year. The award can be used to attend a National High School Journalism Conference, to pay for tuition for a university course in a relevant subject area, or for a summer workshop, the JEA Summer Advisers Institute or a local summer workshop in the applicant’s state, to name a few. Quill and Scroll encourages applicants who teach at a Quill and Scroll charter school; have at least one year teaching high school journalism and/or advising publications; have a minimum of one year experience teaching journalism or advising school publications; plan to return to the high school classroom and media advising next year; and will apply the information gained in the course work, seminar or workshop taken as a result of this scholarship. The scholarship program’s objective is to identify and reward experienced journalism teachers and publication advisers who seek the opportunity to upgrade their journalism skills, teaching methodologies and advising techniques. Description: The Association of Jewish Libraries is pleased to offer an academic scholarship to a student enrolled in or accepted into a graduate school of library and information science. Prospective candidates should have knowledge of and interest in Jewish studies, and demonstrate the potential, ability, and intention of pursuing a career in Judaica librarianship. AJL membership is not required for eligibility. Applicants must provide proof of acceptance for the next academic year or proof of current enrollment in one of the following programs leading to a master’s-level degree: (A) An ALA-accredited library school in the United States or Canada; (B) An accredited library school in either the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand; (C) Graduate library school programs in Israel. Description: The Cind M. Treser Memorial Student Scholarship program (formerly the Ed Pickett Memorial Student Scholarship) gives recognition to outstanding and deserving undergraduate students majoring in Environmental Health (or in an allied discipline) and who intend to take employment in the field of Environmental Health in Washington State upon completion of the baccalaureate degree requirements. Substantial coursework is required in the following areas: biology & microbiology, organic & inorganic chemistry, epidemiology, biostatistics, and environmental health topics. Be a student member of WSEHA or become a member upon receipt of the scholarship. Demonstrate intent to become employed in the field of environmental health in Washington following graduation. Salt River Electric Scholarship Program:

Description: Dating back to the 1960’s, Salt River Electric has held a scholarship contest for local students as part of our commitment of giving back to the communities we serve. This year, Salt River Electric has several scholarship opportunities. Eight scholarships will be awarded to graduating students pursuing a traditional degree at a college or university, and graduating students pursuing a career through a trade or vocational program at an accredited school. Description: The Dairy Shrine Student Recognition Award for Seniors recognizes graduating four-year college seniors planning a career related to dairy (production agriculture, manufacturing, marketing, agricultural law, business, communications, veterinary medicine, research and environmental sciences) who have demonstrated leadership skills, academic ability, and interest in dairy cattle. The DeNise Scholarship Fund:

Description: The DeNise Scholarship Fund was established in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Howard DeNise, longtime agriculturalists and Grange members in western New York. This scholarship may be used in any recognized accredited institution of higher learning. Both 2-year associate degree and 4-year baccalaureate degree programs may be pursued. Public and private institutions may be attended within or outside of New York State. Courses of study must entail a major within the field of agriculture. Strong emphasis in awarding these scholarships is placed on need and that the applicants must be agriculturally oriented. Description: The Tennessee Student Assistance Award Program (TSAA) was established to provide non-repayable financial assistance to financially-needy undergraduate students who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment, at least half-time, at a public or an eligible non-public postsecondary institution. Students at four-year or two-year private institutions, four-year and two-year public institutions, career schools, and at the TN College of Applied Technology are eligible. Students must also have a valid Student Aid Index (SAI) of 5000 or less; maintain institutional satisfactory academic progress according to the standards and practices of the institution; not be in default on a loan or owe a refund on any grant previously received at any institution; and have not received a baccalaureate degree. Dairy Shrine Kildee Graduate School Scholarship:

Description: In 1950, Dairy Shrine established a scholarship in honor of H.H. Kildee, Dean Emeritus at Iowa State University, to be awarded for graduate study to a student who excelled in dairy cattle judging. The Top 25 All-American contestants in one of the past three National Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Contests, plus the members of the first and second place teams in the past three National Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge Contests are eligible to apply for scholarships. Students may apply for the scholarship in their junior or senior year of college. These scholarships are to be used for advanced study related to the dairy industry (production agriculture, manufacturing, marketing, agricultural law, business, veterinary medicine and environmental sciences) at the school of their choice. Description: The NGA Foundation seeks to position the independent grocery industry as an employer of choice for college students and is committed to supporting students planning careers with this industry, which includes awarding the Mary Macey Scholarship. Description: The Damato Adult Learners Scholarship is a renewable scholarship awarded to eligible adult students. Scholarships are initially awarded for two academic terms and will pay the school or college up to $600 for those taking one course and up to $2000 for those taking two or more courses. Description: The Dairy Shrine McCullough Freshman Communications Scholarship is awarded annually in memory of Marshall McCullough, a widely known Georgia nutrition researcher and educator. Robert H. Rumler MBA Scholarship:

Description: The Robert Rumler MBA Scholarship was established in honor of Robert Rumler by the Holstein Association, USA for his 36 years of service, most of which was as the Executive Secretary of the Association. The scholarship will be awarded to qualified persons with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, preferably dairy, and recognizable traits of leadership, management intuitiveness and personal qualities through hands-on work experience. Applicants must be an adult or junior member of the Holstein Association USA. The applicant should have ranked in the upper one-third of the agricultural graduates of the college or university granting the applicant’s B.S. Degree. Any exception must be explained and acceptable to the selection committee. Significant extracurricular activities as an undergraduate will receive consideration. While not a requirement, heavy preference will be given to applicants having had several years of work experience following receipt of a Bachelor’s Degree. Previous applicants may reapply, providing eligibility requirements are met. A previous recipient will be eligible for only one additional scholarship to complete degree requirements. A supporting letter of recommendation and evaluation of the applicant by the Dean of Agriculture or Faculty Advisor of the school which granted the applicant their Bachelor’s degree are required. Description: Two Ten offers tuition assistance for U.S. footwear employees who continue to work in the industry while they are enrolled in an accredited higher education program. Scholars may receive annual awards of $4,000, renewable for up to four years of study in an accredited associate or bachelor degree program or vocational/technical training program. Description: The June Gill Nursing Scholarship was established in honor of June Gill, who was a Grange member and a nurse from Dutchess County New York. Description: The Klussendorf / McKown Scholarships will be awarded, three from the Klussendorf’s Chris Kampf fund and four from the McKown Fund. To be eligible, students must be in their first, second, or third year at a 2-year or 4-year college or university in the United States or Canada majoring in dairy science, animal science, agri-business, or other related majors that will develop the skills needed to pursue a career in the dairy industry. Youth affiliated with all dairy breeds are encouraged to apply for these scholarships; however, the McKown scholarships will give preference to youth from predominantly Holstein backgrounds. Description: SAJA is committed to promoting high-quality journalism. Our scholarships help journalism students afford tuition and other costs associated with higher education. Undergraduates and graduate students continuing their studies in the Fall of 2024 at a university in the U.S. or Canada are eligible. All applicants must show proof of enrollment. Applicants must either be of South Asian descent (includes: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and people of South Asian origin from the Caribbean) or demonstrate an interest in covering South Asia and/or the diaspora. Immediate relatives of SAJA Board members and judges are ineligible to apply. A committee of judges appointed by the SAJA Board will review the student applications and evaluate them based on need, interest in journalism (i.e. related coursework, internships, extracurricular activities, part-time work), written communication skills and interest in contributing to the SAJA community. Description: The American Fisheries Society is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the J Frances Allen Scholarship for a doctoral fisheries student. The scholarship fund was established with the intent of encouraging women to become fisheries professionals. The qualified applicant must be a PhD student conducting aquatic research in line with AFS objectives, which include “all branches of fisheries science, including but not limited to aquatic biology, engineering, fish culture, limnology, oceanography, and sociology.” Applicants must also be current AFS members. Applicants must submit their dissertation research narrative. The research proposal should encompass the applicant’s entire dissertation research (not a single project/chapter). Three letters of recommendation are also required. One must be from the applicant’s major advisor and one must be from an AFS member. Each letter should address (1) the applicant’s promise as a fisheries scientist, (2) the potential of the applicant to complete their proposed work and (3) significance of the applicant’s proposed research to the advancement of fisheries science. The Lanford Family Highway Worker Memorial Scholarship Program:

Description: The Lanford Family Highway Worker Memorial Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to help the sons, daughters or legally adopted children of transportation construction industry workers killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty or roadway work zone accidents pursue post- high school education. The applicant’s parent must have been employed by a transportation construction firm or a transportation public agency at the time of his or her death or disabling injury. Students whose parents worked in these sectors are eligible: Airports, Bridges, Highways, Marine, Ports and Waterways, Public Transit, Railroads, Roadways, Tunnels, and/or Utility. Applicants must submit at least two letters of recommendation from teachers. Additional letters from a school administrator, counselor, clergy, work or military supervisor, who can address the qualifications and academic aptitude of the applicant, may also be submitted in support of the candidate, although they are not necessary for consideration. Applicants must submit proof of their parent’s death in line of duty. This may be a newspaper clipping with a date the article appeared, a letter from the deceased parent’s former employer, etc. If their parent is permanently incapacitated, they must submit appropriate documentation, including, but not limited to, a physician certification form stating that the injury was directly related to on-duty job-site injury or documentation from the Social Security Administration disability insurance program. It must show that the disability was work-related, along with a statement of injury from the employer. Proof of guardianship must be submitted if the applicant is not living with surviving parents. Applicants must also submit a copy of their most current year’s federal tax return and a copy of their parent’s most current year federal tax return. Description: The VASWCD Educational Foundation Inc. Scholarship Program aims to promote the education of students in technical fields with natural resource conservation and environmental protection. Applicants must be enrolled in or have applied to a college freshman level curriculum. Applicants shall document a class ranking in the top 20 percent of their graduating class or a 3.0 or greater GPA or appropriate equivalent of individual scholastic achievement. The Schwallie Family Scholarship supports undergraduate students attending two- or four-year universities. Schwallie applicants typically pursue degrees at four-year universities. Students attending two-year universities with the intention of completing a four-year degree also typically apply to the Schwallie Scholarship. Many applicants with a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome choose to apply for this program. This is optional but strongly encouraged, students may submit a letter of recommendation from a non-relative.
