Description: The UDT-SEAL Association is pleased to offer scholarship opportunities to dependents of our veteran or currently serving members who strive to pursue higher learning and help them achieve their dream of a college education. This year the UDT-SEAL Association is offering competitive merit-based scholarships. “Well-rounded” students with the highest GPAs who are involved in extracurricular activities and sports will be given preference. The High School Senior Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who must be seeking a vocational degree, associates degree, or bachelor’s degree. Applicants must be a Dependent child of a UDT-SEAL Association member who have served in or are currently serving in the Naval Special Warfare community. Description: P.L.A.Y. has always made a point to promote compassion towards animals in both our personal and professional lives. We know there are plenty of young minds out there that are equally passionate about helping animals in need, so in an effort to encourage them and promote this cause, P.L.A.Y. will be awarding our annual scholarship to a graduating high school senior (2023-2024) who best exemplifies our core beliefs. Description: The Charles L. Hebner Memorial Scholarship is for high school seniors attending an accredited institution in an undergraduate program. Applicants must have an unweighted cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and a combined score of at least 1290 on the SAT or the equivalent score on the ACT. Optimist International Essay Contest:

Description: The Optimist International Essay Contest aims to give young people room to develop their views around a central idea. In addition to the opportunity for written expression, participants have the chance to win a college scholarship. The Optimist International Essay Contest is divided into two levels of competition: Club and District. Interested students should submit essays on the assigned topic to their local Optimist Club. The contest is open to contestants under the age of 19 as of October 1st of the current Optimist International contest year. Club winners may advance to the District contest to compete for a $2,500 college scholarship. Contestants must compose an original essay with limited guidance from others. The deadline for Clubs to submit their winning essay to the District Chair is February 28, 2025. The deadline for Districts to submit their winner’s information to Optimist International is April 15, 2025. National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, Inc. Annual Scholarship:

Description: The 2024 NCBFAA Annual Scholarship program is open to any regular member employee or a child of a regular member employee of NCBFAA who is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited U.S. college or university for their professional advancement in our industry. Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate degree in industry-related studies at an accredited U.S. college or university. Description: The NABJ Visual Task Force Scholarship will be awarded to students with a genuine passion for visual journalism. Qualified candidates will be chosen based on the quality of their portfolio work and their demonstrated commitment to academic excellence. Description: Only the children with a parent or legal guardian employed by a California vineyard during the current or previous winegrape growing season are eligible to apply. However, children with a parent or legal guardian employed by a California winegrape grower may request a waiver from this eligibility requirement based upon financial need. 

Distinguished Raven FAC Memorial Scholarship:

Amount: $2,000 – $2,500

Description: This scholarship program is meant to provide educational assistance to the descendants of those the Ravens supported in their fight for the defense of their country. Scholarships are presented annually to qualifying descendants or legal wards of a Lao or Lao-Hmong individual who served in the Royal Laotian Military or Hmong forces in defense of the Kingdom of Laos between 1960 and 1975. Applicants must be a high school senior or graduate, and must be enrolled or actively seeking to enroll full time in the coming academic year in an undergraduate program of studies leading to a Bachelor or Associate Degree at an accredited college, junior college, or university or a Technical/Trade School in the United States. Selection will be based on an overall evaluation of the applicant’s academic achievement, goals, character, service beyond self, and the quality of their essay. The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarship:

Description: The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year nomination is open to either of the following: (A) a registered active member of a Boy Scouts of America unit that is chartered to an American Legion post, American Legion Auxiliary unit or Sons of The American Legion squadron; or (B) a registered active member of any chartered Boy Scouts of America unit and have a parent or grandparent possessing up-to-date membership in The American Legion or Sons of The American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary. Applicants must have received the Eagle Scout Award; received a Scouts BSA or Venturer Religious Emblem; and have demonstrated practical citizenship in church, school, Scouting and community. They must be enrolled in high school at the time of selection. The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarship awards will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each. The scholarship may be used to attend a school selected by the student provided it is state accredited, above the high school level, and within the continental limits of the United States, except in the case where the student may be from a possession of the United States, in which case the student can select a school in that possession or in the continental United States. The nomination window is from November 1st to March 1st, annually. Nomination packets must be received by each applicant’s respective American Legion state department headquarters. Then each respective American Legion State Department Selection Committee will determine the Eagle Scout judged to be the best in their department (state). Then the department will send that packet, along with a list of the members serving on that Selection Committee, to The American Legion National Headquarters no later than April 1st. Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members:

Description: The Spirit of Youth Scholarship Fund is an umbrella that supports three separate scholarship opportunities for participants in American Legion Auxiliary programs. One is for American Legion Auxiliary Junior members, another for the Junior Members of the Year, and one is for participants in the American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation program. Candidates for this award shall be or shall have been Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary, have held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary for the past three consecutive years, and must be a paid member for the current membership year. Applicants must continue their membership in the American Legion Auxiliary during the scholarship period. Applicants must be in their senior year of high school. This is a scholarship to attend an accredited institution of higher education. Applicants must be of good character and have grades that meet entrance requirements at the institution of their choice. SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund:

Description: Every year, SEMA helps students pay for their college tuition. To be eligible for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund, applicants must be either a high school senior or 18 years of age at the time of submission. Applicants must be incoming freshmen or have continued enrollment in college, university or post-secondary career and technology school in the United States or Canada. Description: The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors the Children of Warriors National Presidents’ Scholarship to support the children of our warriors. These scholarships are awarded to 15 students annually who excel in academics and volunteer in their communities. These scholarships are for undergraduate study only at an accredited college or university. Candidates for this award shall be direct descendants of veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion: April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918; and any time after December 7, 1941. Membership in The American Legion Family is not required for this scholarship. Applicants must be in their senior year of high school. Applicants must complete 50 hours of volunteer service within the community during their high school years. Hours must be verified in writing by the recipient organization(s). Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest:

Description: Students may submit their original artwork for a chance to win a $10,000 scholarship and have their design featured by the leading publisher of premium quality cards in the United States since 1929. The winning entry will also be turned into a genuine greeting card by The Gallery Collection. This contest is open to all high school, college, and university students enrolled during the time period of the contest in an academic program designed to conclude with the awarding of a diploma or a degree. Students home-schooled under the auspices of an accredited high school are considered high school students for this purpose and are eligible. Description: The Steiner Family Scholarship Fund has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Applicants must be age 26 and under as of the application deadline date; be high school seniors or students in their final year of upper-secondary school or graduates who plan to enroll, or students who are already enrolled in an undergraduate study at an accredited two or four-year college, university, vocational-technical school or CEGEP (or equivalent). Description: Department scholarships are awarded to deserving sons or daughters, grandsons or granddaughters of a veteran who need financial assistance to avail themselves of higher education at the post-secondary level. These scholarships are to be applied only toward the expenses of tuition, books or similar fees, at an accredited institution of higher learning. Satisfactory progress must be made with grades reported to the Department of Minnesota. To be eligible to apply for these scholarships, the veteran must have served in the federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941 and have been honorably discharged or is still serving. Applicants must be either a resident of the State of Minnesota or a member of the American Legion Auxiliary (includes Junior membership), The American Legion, or Sons of The American Legion, Department of Minnesota. Applicants must also be a high school senior or graduate, or a college student or graduate, seeking further education with a scholastic record and average of at least C.” Applicants must be of good character, with ambition to continue their education. Applicants must submit a letter from the superintendent, principal or counselor of the school presently attending, or have attended regarding scholastic record, aptitude and ambition; and a letter from a business, clergy or professional person (not related) with whom the applicant has been associated. Applications must be submitted by March 5th to the Unit President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit located in the applicant’s school district or the Unit that holds the applicant’s membership. Agriculture Future of America Scholarship Program:

Amount: $1,600 – $3,200

Description: The Agriculture Future of America Scholarship Program is available to current high school senior or undergraduate students attending a four-year institution in the US or plans to obtain a four-year degree. Applicants must be enrolled in an agriculture or food-related degree program in the U.S. See the full eligibility requirements. Recipients will be selected based on their career goals, leadership and community involvement, and financial need. Some scholarships will be awarded based on specific criteria, for example, living in a particular community area. Applicants must be 17-25 years old during the AFA Leaders Conference. Essential Visionaries Scholarship Fund:

Amount: $5,000 – $10,000

Description: The Essential Visionaries Scholarship Fund has been established to assist students seeking a degree or certificate in Education, Counseling, Psychology or Nursing in college or vocational school programs. Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates or current college undergraduates in the United States who plan to enroll for the entire upcoming academic year. Awards may be renewed for up to four additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Awards are for undergraduate study only. Walter L. Mitchell Memorial Awards:

Amount: $1,500

Description: Walter L. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Awards is open to high school seniors who will graduate in January or June of the current school year and will enroll in a higher education facility beginning the next school year. To be eligible, the applicant must be a child, stepchild or legally adopted child of a member of the International Chemical Workers Union Council with continuous membership for at least a year prior to March 7, 2025. Laila Uthman Scholarship:

Amount: $1,500

Description: The Laila Uthman Scholarship is intended for graduating high school seniors at Oceana High School who have overcome academic and personal difficulties or who have shown concern for those less fortunate. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors at Oceana High School. Students must show potential, willingness, and promise for future success in college. Dave Nelsen Scholarship:

Amount: $5,000

Description: The Dave Nelsen Scholarship will be awarded to students currently attending or planning to attend a technical college or trade school within the next 12 months. This includes technicians currently pursuing licensing or other advanced education. Students must be pursuing their education in the HVAC-R or plumbing field. They must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a program with an oil heat or Bio-Fuel course as part of their overall curriculum. Applicants must include a letter of recommendation from their HVAC or plumbing instructor or mentor. Optional: This is optional but applicants may submit a short personal video to speak of their interest in this scholarship and why they should be considered. OESP Family College Scholarship:

Amount: $2,000

Description: The OESP Family College Scholarship will be awarded to family members of members in good standing of OESP. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a member in good standing of OESP. Students must be enrolled in or preparing to be enrolled in an accredited two or four-year college beginning in the Fall of 2024. Students must submit a letter of reference from an instructor, academic administrator or mentor. Applications may be submitted through mail or email. Connex Foundation Scholarship:

Amount: $5,000

Description: The purpose of the Connex Foundation Scholarship is to assist individuals who are exploring the study of skilled trades or multi-site facility management with the end goal of advancing their career in this field. The scholarship serves to promote the multi-site facilities industry by attracting high school, college-level, career transitioning, adult re-entry, and veteran students into the field of study and encouraging their pursuit with financial support. The Connex Foundation will award scholarships to individuals pursuing a career in the skilled trades (example: electrical, plumbing, welding, HVAC, carpentry), construction and/or facility management industry. Applicants must have a history of active involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, or work experience. Applicants must create a submission video answering 6 of the following 10 questions: (1) Why do you believe you deserve this scholarship? (2) How will this scholarship impact your life? (3) Who is your role model and why? (4) Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? (5) What subject is your favorite in school and why? (6) What is a meaningful experience or class you’ve had in school and why? (7) What role do you believe technology will play in advancing the retail industry? (8) What has driven you to follow this education path? (9) Provide an example of a time you overcame adversity. (10) Any additional thoughts or comments concerning the facilities management/trade industry you would like to share? The answers should highlight the applicant’s unique experiences, strengths, potential, goals, and aspirations.
