That’s why they are so excited to continue their Pretty Photoshop Actions Annual Scholarship. Darian Daily Legacy Scholarship:

Description: Darian Daily exhibited all that is good about our work and his enthusiastic support of the SFMA and The SAFE Foundation was inspirational. Darian was dedicated to his family and spoke often of his love of spending time with his family. The Darian Daily Legacy Scholarship is designed to help parents or guardians provide an education for their children. Recipients must be currently enrolled or enrolling into a recognized college or university. The student must be an enrolled full-time college student, or high school student entering a two or four-year college or university. This scholarship will support students who have chosen an academic field of study outside of the Turfgrass industry. The parent or guardian of the recipient must be a current SFMA National member for at least the past three years. The parent or guardian meeting the previous requirement must fill out an application and complete an essay, information on how they have given back to the industry and their child’s qualifications, along with the student’s high school or current college transcript. Students must complete a short essay about how their parent or guardian have positively influenced them. The student must demonstrate a broad base of interests including extra-curricular and community involvement, volunteer activities, and outside employment. Jerome Burke Foundation Scholarship:

Description: Jerome Burke was a son, a brother, an uncle, and a nephew, but never a father. Even though he did not have children of his own, he loved, mentored, and provided for so many children. In honor of him, the Jerome Burke Foundation was established to encourage and support higher education among young African American men. The Jerome Burke Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to young high school students who will attend accredited colleges, universities, or trade schools. Applicants must be a senior attending an Illinois school by the scholarship application deadline. They must have completed 10 hours of community service or agree to complete 10 hours of community service. They must also be able to attend the Annual Gala on Second Saturday in December. American Legion Department of Nebraska High School Oratorical Contest:

Description: Young orators earn some of the most generous college scholarships available to high school students through the American Legion Department of Nebraska High School Oratorical Contest. Eligible participants must be bona fide students under the age of 20 years on the date of the National Contest who are presently enrolled in a high school or junior high school (public, parochial, military, private or state accredited homeschool) in which the curriculum of said high school is considered to be of high school level, commencing with grade 9 and terminating with grade twelve 12. Students must be enrolled in high school or junior high school during the time of participation at any level of The American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest. Contestants must either be legally domiciled within or attend an educational institution within the Department (State) that they enter competition. The contest will consist of two parts: (1) an 8-10 minute, memorized oration will be given on some phase of the United States Constitution and (2) a 3-5 minute oration on one of the four “assigned topics” assigned by National Headquarters. Description: First awarded in 2011, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship is presented annually to one Oklahoma high school senior. The scholarship is awarded based on the student’s leadership roles, civic/community involvement, academic achievement, knowledge of Oklahoma Hall of Fame Members, and pride in our great state. Also weighed into the score will be the GPA listed on school documents, ACT/SAT test scores, and the student’s desire to continue his/her education and to enrich Oklahoma. Attention to detail on the application (following directions, spelling, grammatical accuracy, etc.) will also be considered. High school seniors who currently attend an Oklahoma public, private, charter or homeschool and have committed to attend a college or university are eligible to apply. Description: The Daniels Scholarship Program helps make college possible for motivated and ambitious students. Daniels Scholars are selected because they embody the criteria Bill Daniels defined for the program: strength of character; leadership potential; commitment to serving their communities; academic performance or promise; well-rounded personality; and emotional maturity and stability. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior; earn a minimum SAT Math score of 490 and a minimum Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 490, or a minimum ACT score of 18 in each category (writing score not required); and meet the financial need requirements. Daniels Scholars may attend any two-year or four-year, nonprofit, accredited college or university in the United States. Scholars must intend to complete a bachelor’s degree, and those starting at a two-year college must be on a path to earning a bachelor’s degree. Daniels Scholarships may not be used at technical or trade schools, or for participation in certificate programs. The Daniels Scholarship, along with generous contributions from partner schools, covers the full cost of attendance (COA) at partner schools within Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Description: The NSHSS Film and Media Production Scholarship will be awarded to NSHSS members graduating high school in 2025, 2026, 2027, or 2028. Applicants must create and submit an artistic representation of a day in their life through film. How is their day unique, exciting, making an impact? Applicants must be creative, animation is allowed. Films should be no more than 5 minutes long, and submissions can be made in the following categories: scripted film narrative, animation, documentary, or short film. Copyright music may be used if the song’s original artist and composer are credited. Applicants must also submit the title and description of their submission (4-5 lines), including what inspired the work, how it was created, and the intent. Entries will be judged on the expression of a clear theme; quality of the story line and script, if applicable; creativity and/or content originality; production quality; and editing. NSHSS has a no-tolerance policy for plagiarism. Any applicant whose winning work is determined to be plagiarized in whole or in part will forfeit any awards. Description: NSHSS has created the NSHSS Performing Arts: Theater Scholarship for those interested in pursuing their studies in the performing arts. The top two performers will be awarded a scholarship to assist in continuing their art and sharing it with the world. Applicants must be NSHSS members graduating high school in 2025, 2026, 2027, or 2028. Applicants must submit an educator recommendation letter. Applicants must submit a video of their performance with a short description of their piece. The performance video must be no more than 5 minutes. Description: The NSHSS Visual Arts Scholarship will be awarded to the following categories: Photography or Digital Photography; and Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media, or Digital Art (examples of artwork for this category include painting, drawing, ceramics, glass, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, and weaving). Two awards will be given for photography, and two awards will be given for painting, drawing, mixed media, or digital art. Applicants must be NSHSS members graduating high school in 2025, 2026, 2027, or 2028. Applicants must submit an educator recommendation letter. Applicants must submit digital files of their artwork. It is optional but students may submit pictures, videos or media showing their leadership in action.
