ACS Traveling Fellowship to Australia and New Zealand

The International Relations Committee of the American College of Surgeons announces the availability of a traveling Fellowship to Australia and New Zealand. The ACS Traveling Fellow will visit Australia and New Zealand, and a Traveling Fellow from Australia or New Zealand will visit North America. The Fellow is required to spend a minimum of two or three weeks in Australia and New Zealand. They will attend and participate in the Annual Scientific Congress of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, which will be held in Perth, Australia; participate in the formal convocation ceremony of that congress; attend and address the ANZ Chapter meeting during that congress; and visit at least two medical centers in Australia and New Zealand before or after the Annual Scientific Congress of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons to lecture and to share clinical and scientific expertise with the local surgeons. In the event that the selected applicant is from a surgical specialty which is not participating in the RACS Congress, specific negotiations will be necessary to ensure the Traveling Fellow’s participation in a national meeting of that specialty. The American College of Surgeons’ International Relations Committee (IRC) will select the Fellow after review and evaluation of the final applications. Mississippi Car Tag Stipend Program

Stipends are made available to nursing students and nurses pursuing a degree in nursing in the state of Mississippi through the Nurses Car Tag Program. Applicants may be a full-time nursing student enrolled in an accredited Associate or Baccalaureate Nursing Program or an RN enrolled in a part-time or full-time accredited Master’s or Doctoral Nursing Program. They must have a “Nurses Touch Lives” license plate on their personal vehicle at the time of application, and maintain it during receipt of funding. They must also execute an agreement with the Mississippi Nurses Foundation to be employed full-time as a nurse in Mississippi within the first two years following completion of the program. Maryland Dent-Care Loan Assistance Repayment Program

The Maryland Dent-Care Loan Assistance Repayment Program (MDC-LARP) is a student loan assistance repayment program for dentists who treat Maryland’s most vulnerable populations. The purpose of MDC-LARP is to increase access to oral health care services for Maryland Medical Assistance Program (MMAP) recipients by increasing the number of dentists treating this population. An individual must be a practicing dentist in Maryland who has graduated from an accredited US dental school and have a valid unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Maryland; employed full-time as a dentist in Maryland providing care to Maryland Medical Assistance Program (MMAP) recipients in Maryland; a dentist with at least 30 percent of their patient population as MMAP recipients; and currently paying off outstanding student loan debt. To be eligible for this award, an individual cannot be in default on a loan or have an incomplete service obligation. Eligible applicants may receive up to $23,740 per year for each year of obligated service, up to a maximum of 3 years of service. Recipients may renew their award for up to two years. The scholarship is open to future and current college students majoring in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Business, Management, Technology and any others preparing for an exciting career in the finance industry. High school seniors may apply. Pheabs’ Scholarship is open to any student in an accredited course that is located within the United States. Students from American accredited universities located elsewhere are also encouraged to enter. To apply for for the scholarship, submit the email with the subject title “Pheabs Financial Awareness Scholarship,” your name and contact number, the name of your college or university, what year of college you are in (high school graduates are classified as ‘college freshmen’), your current GPA, and your essay in a PDF format.
