Caroline M. Hewins Scholarship:
Amount: $4,000

Description: The Caroline M. Hewins Scholarship Fund was established in 1926 as a tribute to one of the great pioneers in American Librarianship in special recognition of her creative work for children throughout the country. The scholarship is open to those who plan to specialize in library work with children: who have received, or are about to receive a four year undergraduate degree; and who have applied for admission to a library school or are already attending a library school accredited by the American Library Association. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to pursue a career in public library service. A transcript of undergraduate college work through senior year, proof of acceptance (either acceptance letter or transcripts) into an ALA accredited library school, and two letters of recommendation from someone who can attest to the applicant’s interest or ability in the library field and/or working with youth are required. American Board of Funeral Service Education National Scholarship Program:
Amount: $1,500 – $2,500

Description: The National Scholarship Program of the American Board of Funeral Service Education was established to provide financial awards to students enrolled in funeral service or mortuary science programs to assist them in obtaining their professional education. Selection of scholarship recipients is competitive. To be considered for an award, a student must have completed at least one semester (or quarter) of study in a program in funeral service or mortuary science education accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Students in coordinated programs are only eligible for an award during the period of attendance at the American Board accredited institution. Applicants must have at least one term or semester remaining in their program which will commence after the award date in order to be considered for a full award. Students with less than a full term of study remaining will be considered for partial awards. Applicants must also be a citizen of the United States, U.S. Permanent Resident, International Student (F1-Visa holder), or a student in the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Applicants must provide detailed information regarding their work and community service history beginning during their high school years to the present. Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation, which must be from an employer, community leader or non-family member and from a faculty member of the ABFSE School (includes Gen. Tennessee HOPE Scholarship:
Amount: $4,500

Description: The HOPE Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen who are enrolled at an eligible postsecondary institution within 16 months after graduating from an eligible high school in Tennessee. Only courses leading to a student’s eligible program of study (associate or baccalaureate degree program) can be awarded under the HOPE Scholarship program. Entering freshmen must achieve a minimum 21 ACT or a minimum of 1060 SAT, exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests (concordant equivalent score) or overall minimum 3.0 GPA. Home School graduates must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests. Home school GPAs are not considered. If a minimum 21 ACT is not achieved, students may qualify for HOPE by completing at least two dual enrollment classes at an eligible postsecondary institution while enrolled in the home school program totaling at least six semester hours and achieving a minimum 3.0 college GPA in each of the two dual enrollment courses and achieve a minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA in all dual enrollment courses attempted. GED recipients must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests and qualifying GED score of 170. HiSet recipients must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests and qualifying HiSet score of 15. Tennessee HOPE Scholarship for Nontraditional Students:
Amount: $2,250 – $2,850

Description: The HOPE Scholarship for nontraditional age students is for independent students as determined by the FAFSA application and who have enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program at an eligible four-year postsecondary institution. Students may receive up to $2,250 per full-time enrollment semester, including summers, as a freshman and sophomore and up to $2,850 per full-time enrollment semester, including summers, as a junior and senior. Only courses within the student’s program of study can be awarded under the scholarship. Applications must be received by September 1 for fall semester, March 1 for spring semester and May 1 for summer semester. Early application is recommended. Region 4 Dr. Barbara Wright Scholarship:
Amount: $1,000

Description: The Region 4 Dr. Barbara Wright Scholarship will be awarded to a registered nurse who is a NJSNA Region 4 member (minimum of one year); and/or a nursing student who lives in Region 4 and is enrolled in a nursing education program at one of the following levels: Entry Level RN (Diploma, Associates, or Baccalaureate), RN to BSN, Master’s in Nursing, Post Master’s, or Doctorate in Nursing. Two letters of reference that address the applicant’s academic achievement or potential are required. Annual Be A Friend Project Scholarship:

Description: The Annual Be A Friend Project Scholarship will be awarded to high school juniors and seniors (Class of 2025 and 2026). Applicants must be following at least one of the social media accounts of Be A Friend Project. Description: Ruth Bader Ginsberg, or “Notorious RBG” as she has been coined by Shana Knizhnik, was an American icon of epic proportions. As remembered by the American Bar Association, she was a brilliant legal scholar who left a mark on American jurisprudence both in her role on the Court and as an advocate. NSHSS hopes to honor the blazing legacy of “Notorious RBG” by awarding students scholarships for their efforts to embody the spirit of RBG within their own communities. Applicants may be rising high school students graduating in 2025, 2026, 2027, or 2028 and recently graduated 2024 seniors. Female-identified applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Description: The Norman K. Russell Scholarship is awarded to recognize and assist graduate or doctoral students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to orientation, retention and transition, who will contribute to the enhancement of the orientation field, and who is currently enrolled as a graduate student in orientation-related fields. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Master’s program or in a Doctoral level studies at the time the scholarship is awarded. Description: The ADEA/Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes dental educators who demonstrate exemplary standards and promote excellence in dental education through scholarship and innovation. The award is ultimately aimed at enriching educational experiences by generating intellectual excitement within dental institutions and programs. This commitment to excellence and the scholarship of teaching and learning may be demonstrated in any dental, allied dental or advanced dental instructional setting, including classroom or laboratory instruction, clinical teaching or preceptorships, research and instructional mentoring, continuing education, community-based instructional settings or electronically mediated teaching and learning experiences. The nominee must demonstrate excellence in teaching students, hold a full-time faculty appointment at an ADEA member institution, and be an ADEA individual member. Nominees are to be identified and recognized initially within individual institutions or programs of dental, allied dental or advanced dental education. Nominations are to be forwarded by the dean or program director. A composite letter of nomination to be prepared by the dean, academic dean or program director with input from the ADEA Council of Faculties institutional representative, if available, a peer professional and a student or alumni representative must be submitted. Description: The ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarships for Predoctoral Dental Students Pursuing Academic Careers will support dental students who demonstrate firm commitments to becoming dental educators. An applicant must be enrolled in a predoctoral program at an ADEA member institution; demonstrate interest in advanced education; show commitment to pursuing an academic career in dental education; and be an ADEA individual member. Description: The ADEA/Sigma Phi Alpha Linda DeVore Scholarship recognizes the memory and the 30-year dental education career of Professor Linda Rubinstein DeVore. A scholarship is awarded to an individual pursuing allied dental education study at the baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral degree levels. An applicant must be enrolled in a course of study in dental hygiene, education, or public health; demonstrate a commitment to leadership in education or health care; be in good academic standing in his or her program of study; and be an ADEA individual member. Description: The ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarships for Dental Hygiene Students Pursuing Academic Careers support dental hygiene students who are pursuing education beyond an associate degree and who have an interest in academic careers. Description: The NSHSS Creative Writing Scholarship will be awarded to NSHSS members who are high school students graduating in 2024, 2025, 2026, or 2027. Three $2,000 awards will be given for the Fiction category, and three $2,000 awards will be given for the Poetry category. For Poetry: Students may submit their original poetry in any style, from formal verse, to free verse to experimental. The poem should be formatted as you wish it to appear in publication. For Fiction: Students may submit a piece of short fiction, which must be no more than 5,000 words and should not be single-spaced. The entry may be any genre of the student’s choice, including graphic novel or story. Entries will be judged on creativity, technique, expression, and originality. Description: The NSHSS Film and Video Production Scholarship will be awarded to rising high school students graduating in 2025, 2026, or 2027 and recently graduated 2024 seniors. Applicants must create and submit an artistic representation of a day in their life through film. How is your day unique, exciting, making an impact? Be creative, animation is allowed. Films should be no more than 5 minutes long, and submissions can be made in the following categories: scripted film narrative, animation, documentary, or short film. Entries will be judged on the following criteria: Expression of a clear theme; Quality of the story line and script (if applicable); Creativity and/or content originality; Production quality; and Editing. Description: The NSHSS Performing Arts: Dance Scholarship Award will be awarded to rising high school students graduating in 2025, 2026, or 2027; or recently graduated 2024 seniors with a passion for dance. NSHSS has created this scholarship dedicated to those interested in pursuing their studies in the performing arts. A portion of the application requires the applicant to submit a short video of their performance. NSHSS Visual Arts Scholarship:

Description: The NSHSS Visual Arts Scholarship will be awarded to rising NSHSS high school members graduating in 2025, 2026, or 2027; or recently graduated 2024 seniors. Three $2,000 awards will be given for photography; and three $2,000 awards will be given for painting, drawing, mixed media, or digital art. Examples of artwork for this category include painting, drawing, ceramics, glass, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, and weaving. Applicants must submit the title and description of their submission and an educator recommendation. It is optional but students may also submit pictures, videos, or media showing their leadership in action. All work must be the student’s original work. Description: The Robert W. Young Award for Undergraduate Student Research in Acoustics is open to students who must be enrolled in and in good standing at a university in the United States. Awards will be given for separate and independent projects in 2024. Funds can only be used as outlined in the proposal. A report on the results of the project, copy of senior thesis, or other material must be reviewed by the faculty advisor and submitted to the chair of the ASA Education Committee within 3 months of completion.
