Introducing MyCAP 2.0!
Hello CAP Community!
It was just about 3.5 years ago that we launched the first iteration of our direct-to-consumer (D2C) MyCAP platform. Since then, we have had a few hundred thousand families sign up with us and benefit from the incredible insights our platform and experts provide. We have helped our families find hundreds of millions of dollars in financial aid opportunities and have hopefully guided them all to an affordable path to and through college.
As it is with any initial product launch, the day after going live we immediately began thinking through how the platform could be better. Via our users, high school partners, IECs, advisors, and of course our internal team, we received great feedback on how to improve the experience and advice. Over the last year and a half, we have reviewed and prioritized this feedback and have been diligently working on the next generation MyCAP to provide even more value to our stakeholders.
And good news is…we’re ready to open the gates!
MyCAP 2.0 is packed full of both new and improved features that assist students and their families with the college planning and financial aid process. We are psyched for you all to try it out and we remain extremely grateful that you’ve trusted us as your expert partner through this exciting (and crazy!) part of your lives.
What’s New in MyCAP 2.0?
College planning and the process of applying for financial aid is confusing, stressful, and overwhelming. Our job is to help explain and simplify it. The dozens of improvements and updates we’ve made to MyCAP 2.0 were all centered around doing this even better.
To this end, one of the bigger changes we made was to the general dashboard layout. The deliverables and focus areas of the college planning and application process is very much calendar-driven, so we created clearer, delineated steps in the journey. We also added some more stops along the way to better inform and prepare you for all of the important phases along the way. This includes a dynamic, engaging home dashboard screen to help ground you wherever you are in the process.
Lastly, we knew we could do an even better job providing insightful and interactive graphics and tables to help you quickly visualize what’s important. While all the relevant details are available for you to dig through if you’re so inclined, we think you’ll appreciate the new visualizations that help distill things down.
Here is a rundown of some of the major improvements in MyCAP 2.0 that we’re excited about:
Smoother onboarding to elevate your MyCAP experience.
Clear and separate process phases, so you know exactly where you are on your college planning timeline.
New and improved visualizations, including map view on your school search page, an affordability vs selectivity grid, side-by-side award comparison, drag-and-drop appeals priority list, and dynamic how-to-pay waterfall charts. These are all crucial to simplifying the college planning process and allowing you to feel confident at every point in the process.
Next, we have our universal “my schools” list. This section includes the abilities to drag-and-drop schools, sort by column, and can easily access from any page of your account!
Our new homepage will allow you to keep track of your progress, monitor upcoming events, and follow along with the latest news & articles.
Additionally, our updated how to borrow section provides users with customized guidance based on your selected school and current loan rate tables so when it comes time you can feel confident about which loan rate you’re given and from where.
Now, to get even further into the weeds, we have a better organized school details section and even more sections to dive deeper into your potential schools.
The final page on your timeline, our new “College!” results page. This page allows you to celebrate reaching the finish line! Provides you with your review of the ground traveled and gives you a sense for what’s next in this process.
Finally…Cheaper Premium Pricing! Starting in June 2025, with the launch of MyCAP 2.0, we’ll see a new low-cost monthly subscription that can be canceled at anytime.
