American Legion Department of New York High School Oratorical Contest:

Amount: $600 – $25,000

Description: The purpose of The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program is to develop knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights, and privileges of American citizenship. All contestants must be presently enrolled in high school or junior high school (public, military, private, or parochial, or who are homeschooled) in which the curriculum is of high school grade level commencing with grade 9 and terminating with grade twelve 12. High school students that graduate early during the school year are eligible to compete if they are not enrolled in a college, university, trade school or other institution of higher learning at the time of the Department finals contest. Contestants must either be legally domiciled within or attend an educational institution within the department (state) where they enter competition. The scholarships may be used to attend any high school, college, or university. Scholarships are good for seven years starting from the first payment requested and will be paid directly to the recipient’s high school, college, or university. The contestants must prepare an oration. The topic for the 2025 contest is based on the Amendment I; Amendment VII; Amendment XVIII Sections 1, 2, and 3; Amendment XXVI Sections 1 and 2 of the U.S. Constitution. The Contestant Application must be filled out and signed by the contestant, the principal of the high school, and parent or guardian. Both the Prepared Oration and Contestant Application must be submitted to the County Chairman no later than November 23, 2024. National Honor Society Scholarship:

Amount: $3,200 – $25,000

Description: Since 1946, the National Association of Secondary School Principals has awarded millions in scholarships to outstanding NHS seniors. This year, we are awarding scholarships to 600 students. Each year, scholarship recipients are selected based on their demonstration of the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Applicants must be a high school senior and/or expecting to receive a high school diploma during the current academic year. Applicants must also be an active member in good standing of a National Honor Society chapter, meeting all membership requirements and obligations of the local chapter. Applicants must be an NHS student account holder, verified by the NHS chapter adviser. Funds may be used at a U.S. college or university, military institute, or trade school towards qualified education expenses for undergraduate studies. International students may apply for the scholarship, but scholarship funds must be used at a U.S. college or university. Applicants must request an Adviser Certification from their NHS Adviser, which acts as a short recommendation form and confirms the applicant is currently in good standing with a local NHS chapter. Applicants must also request a recommendation from one non-adviser, non-family member adult who can speak to their commitment to the pillars of the NHS. Jackson Energy Scholarship No Essay Contest:

Description: Jackson Energy sponsors a scholarship program each year that awards scholarships to outstanding students in our service area. High school seniors who plan to attend an accredited college or trade school in the Fall of 2025 are invited to apply, no essay required. Applicants, their parents or legal guardian must be a Jackson Energy Cooperative member with their primary residence or business served by the cooperative. Applicants for the scholarships must not be a relative of an employee or current/former director of Jackson Energy. American Legion Department of Indiana, Americanism and Government Test:

Description: The American Legion Department of Indiana, Americanism and Government Test program was started in the Department of Indiana in 1984. The Americanism & Government Test is to be given in participating high schools during the month of November as the American Education Week falls on the first full week prior to Thanksgiving. This program is open to any student in the 7th and 8th grade in any public, private, and parochial school within the State of Indiana. The test is also open to all students in grades 10, 11, and 12 in all public, home schooled, private and parochial high schools. Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr. Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders:

Amount: $500 – $1,000

Description: The Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr. Scholarship will be awarded to young Hispanic Leaders who seek to recognize Hispanic students who share Dr. Andrade’s lifelong commitment to servant leadership. This scholarship will award $1,000 to students at a 4-year institution and $500 to students at a 2-year institution. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as undergraduate students in an accredited four-year or two-year institution in the U.S. or U.S. territories for the Fall 2025-Spring 2026 academic year. High school seniors may apply. At least one parent of the applicant must be of Hispanic ancestry. Non-U.S. citizens are eligible to apply (DACA or undocumented). Applicants must complete both background and leadership essays. Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation that focus on the applicant’s leadership abilities and past academic performance, while also indicating an ability or desire to effectively serve their community. Description: Boster is proud to provide an annual scholarship to students with an interest in pursuing or continuing a 2 to 4-year academic program related to Biology or Biotechnology. The Boster Bio Scholarships for Young Scientists Of Excellence will provide scholarships to graduating high school or college students to aid their scientific research in college. Applicants must provide proof that they have been accepted into a research position in biology or medical-related lab on a full-time or substantial part-time basis (minimum 9 credit hours worth of research work for the next two semesters). For high school candidates, it is acceptable to provide a proof of significant interest in biomedical research. Description: Each year NPVA offers merit-based scholarships for students who are committed to volunteering and making a difference in their communities. The Aaliyah Lee Scholarship honors the memory of Aaliyah Lee who committed herself to the educational opportunities of her children. Applicants must be currently enrolled or plan to be enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university. They must be a high school junior or senior, undergraduate student, or graduate student. Recipients must provide an official transcript confirming their reported GPA and proof of enrollment. No transcript or proof of enrollment is required until after students are selected as winners. Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth Program:

Description: The Washington State Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth is a scholarship program that helps young people from foster care continue their education and earn a college degree. Proceeds from the Governors’ Cup, an annual golf tournament, provide funding for new scholars each year who are planning to enroll in a college or university. Selected students can access the annual scholarship for up to five years to complete undergraduate studies. To be considered for the Washington State Governors’ Scholarship, students must have a high school diploma or equivalent by June 2025; plan to enroll by Fall 2025 at an eligible college or university; have resided in Washington state for at least one year prior to enrolling in college; and apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the free Washington Application for State Financial Aid. Applicants must also meet one of the following criteria (either currently or until age 18): (1) Placed by a Washington state court order in any of the following living situations: Foster Care, Guardianship or Dependency Guardianship (non-relatives, relatives, residential/group care); (2) Placed in federally-recognized care (a private nonprofit agency in Washington state), classified as an unaccompanied minor and rendered legal permanent residency in the United States; or (3) Placed under a dependency tribal court order outside of your home. Leadership 1000 Scholarship:

Amount: $5,000

Description: The Leadership 1000 Scholarship awards funding to certain high school seniors attending eligible high schools or students enrolled in CSF’s College Services who are enrolled or planning to enroll in a Washington state college or university. Students must be a high school senior at one of the eligible high schools and on track to graduate by June 2025; or have graduated from a high school and enrolled in CSF College Services (includes all former CSF Achievers) attending an eligible Washington state college or university as a freshman, sophomore or junior in Fall 2025. Applicants must also have resided in Washington state for at least one year prior to enrolling in college; file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the free Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA); and have a family income that doesn’t exceed the program’s requirement. Description: The USBC Earl Anthony Memorial Scholarship is open to seniors in high school or college students with a record of strong community involvement and academic achievements as well as financial need. Bowling success is not considered in awarding this scholarship. USBC presents this prestigious scholarship in honor of legendary pro bowler Earl Anthony. Description: The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H.
