Description: The Northwest Journalists of Color Scholarship will be awarded to students who are aspiring journalists. The scholarship will include a $1,200 cash award, and a mentor who works as a journalist in the Pacific Northwest. Applicants do not need to identify as a student of color to apply for this scholarship. Strong preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the importance of diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences in newsrooms. NSHSS Film and Media Production Scholarship:

Description: The NSHSS Film and Media Production Scholarship will be awarded to NSHSS members graduating high school in 2025, 2026, 2027, or 2028. Applicants must create and submit an artistic representation of a day in their life through film. How is their day unique, exciting, making an impact? Applicants must be creative, animation is allowed. Films should be no more than 5 minutes long, and submissions can be made in the following categories: scripted film narrative, animation, documentary, or short film. Copyright music may be used if the song’s original artist and composer are credited. Applicants must also submit the title and description of their submission (4-5 lines), including what inspired the work, how it was created, and the intent. Entries will be judged on the expression of a clear theme; quality of the story line and script, if applicable; creativity and/or content originality; production quality; and editing. NSHSS has a no-tolerance policy for plagiarism. Any applicant whose winning work is determined to be plagiarized in whole or in part will forfeit any awards. Description: The NSHSS Visual Arts Scholarship will be awarded to the following categories: Photography or Digital Photography; and Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media, or Digital Art (examples of artwork for this category include painting, drawing, ceramics, glass, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, and weaving). Two awards will be given for photography, and two awards will be given for painting, drawing, mixed media, or digital art. Description: Established in 1947, the Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, 9th through 12th grade students from across the country enter to win educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. The program is open to students who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools. Students must record their original 3-5 minute audio essay on a flash drive, or other electronic device. They will submit the recording, typed essay, and the completed entry form. Students must provide these items to their school or group competition or VFW Post for judging. Description: Did binge-re-watching “The Walking Dead” get you thinking about what you’d do if the streets were filled with flesh-eating zombies? Maybe you’ve envisioned your own post-apocalyptic world overrun with the living dead, forcing you to come up with a zombie survival plan quickly. Hone your survival tactics and imagine what your school or college campus might be like in a zombie apocalypse. Our Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship committee wants to know your plan to avoid the zombies, where you’d hide, and the top-five things you’d bring to stay alive. We’re giving one successful survivor a scholarship towards his or her college education. This award is for U.S. students. Money Metals Exchange Scholarship Program:

Description: Money Metals Exchange and the Sound Money Defense League will be awarding this scholarship to incoming or current undergraduate students and graduate students each year. High school seniors may apply. Description: Each year IvyPanda awards creative and talented movie-making students with scholarships. Scholarships are given to two winners: the winner receives a $1,000 scholarship; the runner-up prize is $500. Videos from current high school, college, or university students from any country will be accepted. Applicants must record an original video on one of the following topics: (1) ChatGPT as a study assistant: your favorite ethical way of using it in your studies. (2) Quality control: tips for fact-checking AI generated content. (3) Set for success: tips for creating a productive study environment no matter where you are. Even though cyberbullying may occur beyond school walls or outside of school hours, we’d like students to know that there is help both within and outside of school. Students can reach out to a trusted teacher, coach, employer, relative, or other adult for help. Description: The Anna and John Kolesar Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence as calculated from the final standings received in three eligible subjects as recorded on an official Alberta Transcript of High School Achievement. The subjects include: One of: English 30, English 30-1, 30-2 or Francais 30-1, 30-2; and any two of the following: Pure Mathematics 30, Applied Mathematics 30, Mathematics 31, Science 30, Mathematics 30-1, or 30-2, Biology 30, Chemistry 30, Physics 30, Social Studies 30, 30-1 or 30-2, or a language at the Grade 12 level other than the one previously mentioned. Description: The Dr. Robert and Anna Shaw Scholarship is named in honour of Dr. Robert and Anna Shaw, pioneers in the Sexsmith area. Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary program related to agriculture, engineering, fine arts, health, or the trades, and demonstrate a high academic standing in Grade 12. Preference will be given to a graduate from Sexsmith Secondary School in the current year. The recipient will be selected on the basis of academic excellence as calculated from the final standings received in five eligible Grade 12 courses as recorded on an official Alberta Transcript of High School Achievement. Description: The Study.com Scholarship for Future Nurses will be given to a student pursuing a degree in nursing. Study.com wants to assist in furthering the educational opportunities of future nurses. Areas of study that will be considered include students on the path to becoming a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, psychiatric nurse, nurse anesthetist, nurse midwife, clinical nurse specialist, and other related nurse professionals. Description: The Ned McWherter Scholars Program is intended to encourage academically superior Tennessee high school graduates to attend college in Tennessee. To be eligible, the applicant must attend an eligible college or university within 16 months following graduation from high school. Tennessee high school seniors starting their last semester in high school may apply. The award may be renewed three times for a total of four years. Renewal applicants are given first priority. Boettcher Foundation Scholarship:

Description: The Boettcher Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for Colorado high school seniors that is awarded in partnership with our state’s four year, nonprofit institutions of higher education. At Boettcher we define merit to mean superior scholastic ability/intellectual curiosity, leadership, service, character, and more. The comprehensive scholarship program has two models: Cost of Attendance and Tuition and Fees. Students are eligible to apply if they are a graduating Colorado high school senior who has lived in Colorado for their full junior and senior years of high school. They must apply during the fall of what is their final year of high school, even if they are considering taking a gap year after graduation. Applicants must also be a citizen, legal permanent resident, or lawfully present (including through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in the United States or meet the requirements and have applied or started the process of applying for citizenship, legal status or lawful presence. Scholars may receive the scholarship for four years. Semifinalists are required to submit two letters of recommendation. Finalists will be notified via email and will be interviewed in March. Description: The Frank J. Vigilante Scholarship will be awarded to students of Italian extraction demonstrating financial need and high academic achievement. Competitive students must be of Italian extraction, demonstrate financial need, must have high academic achievement, and be a resident of the State of Illinois. In order to be given priority consideration, the applicant is required to be of Italian extraction. Applicants must be enrolled or admitted into an accredited institution of higher education and show a copy of their acceptance letter. Applicants must provide their current high school and/or college transcripts, whichever may apply. Applicants are encouraged to send two letters of recommendation. The scholarship is non-renewable. Description: The CDB Scholarship is an annual, merit based competition that focuses on instilling philanthropic values in ambitious, driven, goal-oriented individuals. Financial need is considered, however, all high school seniors are encouraged to apply. Students must be a resident of Pennsylvania or Camden County, New Jersey at the time of application or attending a Pennsylvania or Camden County, New Jersey high school.
